Controlled steps

1. Read the care label or material guidance and identify any no-iron, low-heat or special-finish restriction.Stop if the material identity or care boundary is unknown.
2. Test on an inconspicuous area with the least aggressive compatible setting and a clean pressing cloth where appropriate.Stop for shine, distortion, color change, odor or finish transfer.
3. Press in short controlled contacts, checking the surface between passes rather than holding heat continuously.Allow the material to cool and reassess before escalating.

Controlled steps

1. Identify the leather type and surface finish; do not proceed when the finish is unknown or specialist-only.Escalate suede/nubuck, coated specialty finishes, heritage objects or uncertain finishes.
2. Test the approved care product on a hidden area and wait for the surface to stabilize.Stop for color pickup, darkening, tackiness, haze or texture change.
3. Apply the least amount needed with a soft cloth according to the care-product instructions, avoiding saturation.Surface remains even and non-tacky.

3. Capture the mock-assembly finding and disposition before releasing the work to any bonded or machine-dependent operation.Pass, revise or escalate state is explicit.
